Job Description

This role is firmly established in the philosophy of compassion, action and making a difference, the coordinator will inspire and empower children, young people, educators, and communities to take meaningful action for the environment, animals and people. The coordinator will manage Roots & Shoots clubs, oversee the Jambian Nature Centre, Zanzibar scholarship and implement envirnomental edcuation intiatives while manage fostering collaboration with key stakeholders, including local governemnts, schools, universities, colunteers and conservation partners This role will require project management, capacity-building to mentors & volunteers, proposal development and timely reporting. Additionally, the Zonal coordinator will raise public awareness on environmental conservation, work closely with JGI's African Program and International Roots & Shoots chapters and support strategic partnership to advance conservation education and community engagement in Zanzibar.

Minimum Job Qualifications and Other Requirements
-Bachelor's degree in education with a focus on Biology, Environmental Management, Wildlife Conservation, Ecological Studies or Social Studies.
-Experience to develop and implement innovative conservation education programs for children and young people.
-Proven ability to lead, nurture and manage a team of volunteers in social projects, ensuring effective collaboration and growth.
-Experience in designing and delivering outreach programs, including peace education, land-use planning, project monitoring and evaluation and curriculum development.
-Experience in proposals, report writting and fundraising to support programs activities.
-Strong capacity to work independently, meet deadlines and ensure timely submission of deliverables.
-Proficiency in working within diverse teams, valuing collaboration, clear communication and shared responsibility.
-Proficiency in computer applications including SPSS, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
-Fluency in both English and Kiswahili, with strong writen and verbal communication skills in both languages.
-Experience working with various agencies, government departments, UN agencies and partners.
-Expereience living in or working with communities in Zanzibar, particulary Unguja and Pemba is highly desirable.
-Previous membership with Roots & Shoots is an added advantage.
