DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Ability to prioritize tasks and ensure maintenance schedules align with logistics operations.
-Schedule and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for forklifts, reach stackers and other machinery to minimize downtime.
-Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues ensuring quick and effective repairs.
-Maintain a log book of all service records, inspections and repairs for compliance and tracking.
-Lead a team of mechanics and technicians, assign tasks and ensure adhere to safety and quality standards.
-Provide training and mentorship to junior staff on proper equipment handling, safety protocols and maintenance techniques.
-Manage the inventory of spare parts, tools and other workshop supplies, ensuring availability for routine maintenance and emergencies.
-Prepare and manage the workshop budget, controlling costs and optimizing resources without compromising quality.
-Track and report equipment performance metrics, including downtime, repair costs and availability.
-Work closely with logistics and operations teams to align equipment availability with operational needs.
-Perform any other duties that may be assigned by a reporting supervisor.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
-Hands on experience: with more than 5 years in maintenance or workshop.
-Management within the logistics or manufacturing sectors. Equipment knowledge.
-Familiality with specific machinery(eg. forklifts, reach stackers) in terms of maintenance, repair and operation.
-Knowledge of occupational health and safety(OHS) regulations relevant to heavy machinery.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma: A formal education in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred.
-Certification in equipment maintenance or repair, especially for heavy machinery(eg, forklift and reach stacker certifications) is advantegeous.
