Job Description

Zambia Cargo and Logistics Limited (ZCL) is seeking a qualified and experienced Operations Manager to oversee and optimize the company's logistics and freight operations. The Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring efficient service delivery, streamlining processes, managing resources and driving operational excellence across all departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE

• Monitor and coordinate daily operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to company policies.
• Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of logistics and transport activities.
• Ensure that all operational processes are executed smoothly and effectively.
• Track key performance indicator (KPIs) and operational metrics to assess performance.
• Identify operational issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Prepare reports on operational performance for the operations.
• Supervise and support operational staff, including coordinators and shift supervisors.
• Provide training and guidance to ensure staff are meeting performance standards.
• Address and resolve any staff-related issues or concerns.
• Analyze operational processes and identify areas for improvements.
• Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives 
• Coordinate with other departments to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
• Ensure that operations comply with safety regulations and company policies.
• Monitor and enforce adherence with safety procedures and protocols.
• Conduct safety audits and address any safety concerns promptly.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field.
• 5-9 years of experience in operations management preferably in Logistics or Transportation.
• Experience in supervising operational staff and managing day-to-day operations
